Chocolate Oaties
125g self raising flour
125g soft brown sugar
125g porridge oats
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tbsp golden syrup
100g plain or milk chocolate, melted
1. Heat oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas mark 4. Line 2 baking sheets with baking parchment.
2. Mix together flour, sugar, oats and soda.
3. Melt butter and syrup together.
4. Add to the dry ingredients and mix.
5. Divide the mixture into about 18 portions and shape each into a ball. Arrange on the baking sheets leaving room between each to space while cooking. Squash down a little.
6. Bake for 15-18 mins until golden. Leave to cool for 3-4 mins before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
7. When the cookies are completely cool, melt the chocolate carefully. Dip each corner of the cookies into the chocolate or paint on by hand. Transfer to a wire rack to cool and set the chocolate.
