Apple Crumble
Ingredients:
4 large Bramley cooking apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup quick oats
¾
cup brown sugar
½
cup plain wholemeal flour
4 oz margarine or butter chilled and cut into pieces
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Serves 4-6
1. Preheat the oven to 190°C, gas mark 5.
2. Peel core and slice or chop the apples into fairly small pieces.
3. Place the apples in an oven proof baking dish and sprinkle over the lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of water. If you want you can add a spoonful of sugar. (The fruit will shrink down as it cooks)
4. In a food processor add the oats, sugar, flour, margarine and cinnamon and process until crumbly. (If you don't have a food processor, you'll need to rub the margarine into the flour as with scones and then mix with the other ingredients)
5. Place the crumble mixture over the apples and press down lightly.
6. Bake in the oven for 40 - 45 minutes.
7. Delicious with either custard or ice cream.
