What am I going to cook tonight?

Marmite flavoured nuts

150g raw cashew nuts (not roasted & salted)
½ tsp marmite
1 tsp margarine

 

 

 

 

1. Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4.

2. Spread the cashews on a baking tray and place in the heated oven for 10-15 minutes. Check regularly, different nuts roast at different times and you don't want them burned.

3. Place the marmite and margarine in a bowl and tip the hot nuts in. Stir well until evenly coated.

4. Put the coated nut back onto the baking tray and put back into the oven for a further 2 minutes.

5. Remove from the oven and let them dry and cool.

You could also try this with almonds or other nuts, but you'll need to adjust the cooking time at stage 2.

And if you don't like marmite, you can also make these with smoked paprika. Just replace the marmite with ½tsp smoked paprika plus ½tsp rock salt at stage 3. But watch out, they're spicy!
